2021 Resolutions

Normally, I write the wrong date for the first few months of a new year, but not this year! 2020 was a dumpster fire, hot mess of a year! No looksies-backsies!

Que Clean or New Year Day by Taylor Swift as you read!

This year I am not publishing my 2020 reflection. I am choosing not to post it because I know my own tendency to compare and feel let down as I am scrolling on Instagram now. So, I am not going to do it!

However, I am going to share my goals for this year! Just like 2020, this year will be another pivotal decision-making, milestone-reaching for me! This year I will find out what grad school I will be attending. This year I will move! This year I will hit 100K on TikTok. So many big things are to come!

Let's get started!

WORD OF THE YEAR |

e m b r a c e : an act of accepting

embrace change. embrace growth. embrace feelings.

embrace the unknown. embrace yourself.

INTENTIONS OF THE YEAR

be kind to me

I am WAY too damn hard on myself. this year I am going to prioritize being gentle with myself and how I choose to react to situations! This year is going to come with rejection and acceptance (into grad school, into a new community, and into new friend groups). I am going to do my best to accept whatever comes my way knowing that God will and does provide.

be present

I spaced out a lot in 2020 (which is ironic because my word for 2020 was space - insert eye roll here). In 2021, I want to focus on coming into myself. Allowing myself to take up space and be in the moment and feel at the moment.

MOMENTS OF THE YEAR

morning runs and walks

This year I loved going on my morning runs and walks. I found it to be a great time to be disconnected from the world and focus on paying attention to my body! This year, I hope to cultivate more of these moments.

hike the JMT

Aaren and I hope to hike the JMT or do a West Coast road trip this summer. I am so excited to travel again!

GOALS AND RESOLUTIONS FOR 2020

rule of life | I like to set goals in each of these categories.

time - money - power - imagination - community - decision-making

IMAGINATION

read books

As a recent college grad, all of my reading lately has been for school. So, I downloaded like 8 books on Audible and have three on my bookshelf that I definitely want to finish before grad school!

TikTok

In 2020, I gained a lot of followers on TikTok (click here to read more). So, my goal is to continue to nurture my TikTok. I would love to hit 200K by 2022.

The Just Granola Things Club

At the beginning of this year, I launched The Just Granola Things Club, which is a club for people who love to get outdoors and want to learn in a non-judgemental environment and meet other people who share similar passions! My goal is to maintain the club for the entire year.

Social Media

In 2021, I would love to grow both of my Instagrams to 10k followers. I would love to post on YouTube and my blog more consistently!

MONEY

build a savings account

Maybe this year will be the year I start a savings account! MY goal is to have $1000 in savings by 2022!

pay off a loan

When my car broke down in Wyoming, I had to take out a loan from a family member, so my goal is to pay that off by the end of February!

pay all bills on time

I need to get better at this, but sometimes I let things slip. Yikes, I am embarrassed to share that fact about me!

TIME

Prioritize health

This year, I want to prioritize mental health, spiritual health, emotional health, and physical health. I did a good job of this in 2020, so I would like to continue on that wave. This means focusing on eating! I am bad at eating enough in a day (not BAD, but not where I want to be)!

POWER and COMMUNITY

sacrifice

commit to the practice of gleaning — frequently sacrificing opportunities for my own advancement to intentionally create pathways for others. I will continue to serve at the church. I love spending time with my small group!

A Verse a day

I want to start reading AT LEAST one verse each day of the year. I am also bad about getting into the Word...

Memorize a verse a month

I want to be able to recall scripture more easily.

DECISION-MAKING

Acceptance and Dependence

Accept the decisions I have made and take responsibility for them. Practice active dependence on God through prayer, reflection, and worship.

Alright, well those are my goals for 2021. Let's hope it only goes UP from here!

xoxo,

Lea Dawn Hart
